Cave Man Art Gallery is Here!!

All the fifth grade students have finished their cave man art!

Tonight I present to you the first public viewing of our Cave Man Art Gallery!

Actually, there are so many pieces (about ninety) that I couldn't hang them all up in one place or on one wall for fear of breaking the fire safety code, which requires that only 20 percent of any area can be covered with paper and cloth. That's not much space when you are trying to show off art work.

I divided the gallery up into three parts. One part is outside my classroom. It looks like this:

Another section of the gallery is inside a walkway between our gym and the main building:

And the last pieces were hung in the main entry hall just outside of the school offices:

Last night I pieced all the video clips I had made of the display, and made a movie. Of course I had to add music, and what better music was suited than what I had heard on the Lion King album, called "Under the Stars."

I have not made a movie on my school computer because I haven't even been able to download the movies from my camera to the Mac. It's possible they have downloaded to a place on my computer, but I haven't found them yet. At any rate, I will continue to search for them, or to download them again. This proves I am not as computer savvy as I had thought.

I want to make a movie to show the kids at school... and their teachers. I think they would be pleased with how well their works melded with the music.

I'm not going to explain it all with words.

So, without further ado, here is my latest video, called Cave Man Art Gallery. I hope you enjoy it (music gets a bit muffled as it gets louder... didn't know how to fix that).

Fix yourself a cup of tea and relax. It's a little over three minutes long. Thank you for visiting! bea

This is quite wonderful Bea!  I think you are a fantastic teacher and I bet the children are learning ever so much from you!  I love how the paper that they have painted on looks just like hunks of rock!!

This was a spectacular effort from the children.  You are a wonderful influence and inspiration to them.  I know that these techniques and information will stay with them for always! Who knows who will still be using it when they grow older? All the basics are there inside them forever in as many layers as it took to learn and draw their cave art.  Wonderful Bea.  Please tell the children 'Well Done!'
You too!

Bea, that was great.  Your choice of music was good, too.  My daughter was very impressed, so now she wants to do one.  She was particularly impressed with how the children made the paper look like rock.  It looks like we're going to be making cave man art someday soon.

Love it! The kids did a wonderful job! Not surprising seeing as who they have for a teacher....On another note just wanted to stop by and Thank you for the graphic for my sidebar celebrating my 1st year journaling. I'm going to add it sometime over the weekend when I have a little more time. It meant a lot to me. (Hugs) Indigo

Fascinating, Bea!  Your students are so lucky to have you as a teacher.  Art and history mixed together.  They all did a fantastic job.  I love the choice of music also.  Have yourself a good weekend!  Chris

This is magnificent! You are awesome and so are your students. The video is fabulous and the music is a perfect complement to the gallery.  I'm not certain, but maybe you could upload the video to Google Video or You Tube on your home computer. You should then be able to access it from any computer including the Mac you have at school.--Sheria

You certainly have a talented bunch of kids.  They must be a pleasure to teach.  You must bring out the best in them!!!  Shame I didn't have a teacher like you years ago.
The video is fantastic and the music just sets it of a treat.  Loved it.
Have a great day.

O this was beautiful Bea!  I noticed the hand-print, I can almost hear you explaining how that "artist" put claycoal in his mouth and blew it at the wall where he placed hs hand, isn't it fascinating?  Thanks for posting this! xoxo CATHY

I wish I'd had a teacher like you who would have encouraged my interest and my eye.  I thought everything was just a suggestion and nothing has to be used exclusively for the purpose it was created for.  Objects can be put together many ways.  I even got in trouble for coloring 'wrong' when I was only six.  You would have had me doing things with my creativeness that no one would allow when I was young.

BTW, these are fantastic!  So proud of them and of you for taking them there.  They'll never forget it as long as they live.

WISHING YOU THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!
